Keep your eye on the donut as ADLF presents an homage to the master surrealist David Lynch and his longtime musical collaborator Angelo Badalamenti.

American tenor Gerard St. Gerard makes his ADLF debut, accompanied by perennial favourites Hadron. The shapeshifting ensemble directed by Aleks Schürmer reimagines the smoke-filled soundscapes that are the hallmark of Lynch’s visionary worlds, with music from Twin Peaks and beyond.

Badalamenti’s iconic neo-noir soundtrack has become inseparable from the enigmatic atmosphere of the cult classic. With its slow-burning motifs and unsettling dissonances, Badalamenti’s captures the quiet dread that pulses beneath the surface of Lynch’s worlds. Suggesting something both hidden and deeply familiar, Badalamenti’s music combines jazz, minimalism and the lush nostalgia of Old Hollywood—echoing the mysteries of Lynch’s remarkable cinematic universe.

Known as one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers of all time, Lynch revelled in abstraction. Following the intuition found at the edge of consciousness, his musical compositions reflect the same mysterious and dreamlike qualities as his films—driven by feeling rather than thinking. Whether it’s the violence beneath the surface of small-town America in Blue Velvet, or the surreal nightmares of Mulholland Drive, there’s a pervasive sense that beneath the shiny veneer of normality, there are malevolent forces that we don’t understand.

It’s the unnerving hum of electricity.

Of something unseen but felt in the dark.

Of some unnamable presence just beyond the veil.

And sometimes its just a damn fine cup of coffee.
